The cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal persist and now seen between 2.1 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height

As per IMD, a cyclonic circulation lies over south Bangladesh and the adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal between 5.8 and 7.6 km above mean sea level.

Odisha will be witnessing heavy rain for only 48- hours in the remaining 10-day period of June. Deficient rainfall in Bhadrak and Gajapati till date. A trough line will bring heavy rain from Kalahandi to Mayurbanj on June 23-24. However, a significant amount of rainfall will be only from July 4

Odisha has received around 25% surplus rainfall till June 17, the Regional Meteorological Department of the IMD informed on Wednesday.

Several parts of Odisha are set to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall activities for the next three days from today under the influence of a low pressure area formed over the south Jharkhand and neighbourhood.

Odisha Water Resources Department has ruled out chance of any flood in Mahanadi river basin now even as the State continues to witness rainfall activity under the influence of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj in next 24 hours.

A large part of Odisha including the state capital Bhubaneswar on Saturday experienced heavy rain due to low pressure and advancement of the south-west monsoon in the state, official sources said.

While Odisha recorded the highest ever rainfall this May in State's weather history, the maximum temperature in May 2021 has been the lowest since 1969. June is also predicted to remain cooler for Odisha
