The Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department PK Mohapatra has written to the districts collectors of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Puri, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul and Khordha on Thursday.
Modi will first land in Bhubaneswar tomorrow and hold a review meeting. He will then proceed for an aerial survey in the affected areas of Balasore and Bhadrak.
According to a CEEW study, after 2005, the yearly average of the number of districts in India affected by cyclones tripled and the cyclone frequency doubled. In the last decade alone, 258 districts were affected.

A very severe cyclonic storm Yaas pounded the coastal districts in north Odisha when it hit the coast around 9 AM on Wednesday. Several low lying areas were inundated and trees uprooted amid the storm surge. Apprehensive of an extensive damage, the Odisha government had evacuated over six lakh people from low-lying and vulnerable areas of north coastal and adjoining districts, which has reportedly ensured zero casualty in the calamity. After the landfall process was complete, immediate road clearance was done by NDRF, ODRAF and police personnel for restoration of normalcy. The CM also directed officials to clear the major roads for smooth transportation in the next 24 hours and 80% restoration of electricity supply in the affected districts in the next 24 hours.
Though the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas has weakened and turned into a Severe Cyclonic Storm, several districts of Odisha are very likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall under its influence.

Despite being hit by Cyclone Yaas, the Odisha government has ensured the uninterrupted supply of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) which is required by several states where the cases of Covid-19 are still high. State government officials said that the uninterrupted supply of LMO was due to proper planning by the government
