The Southwest Monsoon winds may make onset in Odisha by June 10 to 12, the Director General of India Meteorological Department, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra informed OTV through a telephonic message. 

The Southwest Monsoon has made an onset over southern parts of Kerala. The normal onset date for Southwest Monsoon over Kerala is June 1, said IMD Director General Mrutunjay Mohapatra.

Condition are favourable for onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala today, June 3, 2021," said the IMD.

As per model forecast by reputed weather agencies like IMD, US-GFS and ECMWF, a monsoon low will be going to form on June 13-14 in north Bay of Bengal. In association with the system, the State is predicted to receive good rainfall till June 15

Conditions are ripe for the southwest monsoon to make an onset over Kerala on June 3 after missing its normal onset date, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.

While IMD puts a higher probability of above normal rainfall for the period of June - September, APEC Climate Centre predicts above normal rainfall during June to August in the State. District-wise data shows deficient rainfall in western Odisha 

The southwest monsoon is likely to be normal in north and south India, above-normal in central India and below-normal in east and northeast India, the MeT department said on Tuesday.

The South-west monsoon is most likely to touch Kerala coast in next two days before entering Odisha.

The arrival of monsoon over Kerala is likely to delayed by two days and it is now expected to make an onset over the state by June 3, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts of Odisha from 1.30 pm of May 29 to 8.30 am of June 3.   

The water-level in the upper stream of Subarnarekha at Jamshola Ghat in West Bengal-Odisha border touched the danger-level at around 9 pm yesterday.
