The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued Yellow Warning in view of thunderstorm and lightning activities in several districts of Odisha till June 3. 

As per the midday weather bulletin issued by the IMD today, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts from 1.30 pm of May 29 to 8.30 am of June 3.   

Day 1

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha and Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 

Thunderstorm with lightning and gustysurface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or twoplaces over the districts of Keonjhar,Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati.

Day 3

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada,Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

Day 4

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul and Jharsuguda.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Bolangir.

Day 5

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Boudh and Dhenkanal.

In view of the IMD prediction, Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena has issued advisory for Collectors of concerned districts.

The Collectors have been asked to take steps to circulate the warning message among the public, closely monitor situation and take action as deemed necessary in case of any eventuality.
