Chief Secretary, Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said that major decisions included approval of the financial bids for construction of 40 lift irrigation schemes with intake points on different rivers in the districts of Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Gajapati, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Angul and Cuttack.

There are two antique idols of Lord Buddha. They were buried in sand under Baitarani River water in Bhadrak district. However, locals stumbled upon these idols while lifting sand from the river bed.
It is speculated that both the sculptures date back around the 8th century. The researchers have also informed that the idols are made from Khondalite stone and they strongly believe that it belongs to the era of Bhaumik Sashan in Solampur's Boudha Vihar.
