Sources said Modi will first land in Bhubaneswar tomorrow and hold a review meeting. He will then proceed for an aerial survey in the affected areas of Balasore and Bhadrak.

The Prime Minister will also undertake an aerial survey of the Purba Mednipur district in West Bengal and hold a review meeting before returning to New Delhi, added sources.

Earlier in the day today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik undertook an aerial survey of the affected areas to assess the damages caused by the natural calamity.

Patnaik had yesterday announced a seven-day relief for 128 villages in Balasore and Bhadrak districts that were marooned by the tidal surge and heavy downpours on Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, the extent of damages caused by the storm is yet to be estimated and the State government has directed district collectors to conduct preliminary damage assessment and submit reports within 24 hours.

On the other hand, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena on Thursday informed that three persons died during cyclone in the State. One person each in Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts were killed in separate mishaps related to the cyclone.

He further stated that due to heavy rainfall triggered by the cyclonic storm Yaas, moderate flood has been reported in Baitarani River . However, there are no chances of flood in other major rivers in the State.
