Yes, recently during an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, Rao revealed his profound financial hardships during his early days in the industry. During the interview, he also recounted the instances and shared the stark realities of his struggles.

Rao said, "The most difficult time was facing financial difficulty and getting no work. My mother supported me a lot and when I would run out of money, she would arrange it and send it."

Further, he added, "I remember once I was left with only Rs 18 in my account and that too in a city like Mumbai. I used to spend very frugally. We three used to live in one flat and I used to skip lunch and have one Parle G and Frooti for lunch. My lunch would cost me Rs 4 at the time.”

However, his FTII batchmates often came to his rescue during his financial struggle.

Furthermore, he shared about his preparations to become an actor after his school. Rao said that he started his preparation to become an actor after completing his school. He joined Shri Ram Centre (acting school) in Delhi. He used to go to the acting school on a bicycle and used to cycle 70 km up and down. Later, he got to know that he could get a bus pass if he joined college for graduation, which helped him save money.

During an interview with Mashable India, Rao revealed how Shah Rukh Khan's advice inspired him to buy a luxurious house from Janhvi Kapoor worth Rs 44 crore.

The Roohi actor said, "Shah Rukh sir had taught me one thing ‘Beta kabhi bhi ghar lega na, toh aukat se thoda zyaada lena. Kyunki phir na, upar wala bhi dekhta hai aur tu khud bhi zyada mehnat karega.’ I found this very fascinating.”

The Ludo actor also said that owning a house in the city had been his dream. His wife Patralekhaa and he put their hearts into creating this home with love. Rao's new home covers an area of 3456 square feet which he bought from Janhvi in 2020. He completed the transaction in 2022, paying Rs 44 crore.

Well, from Rs 18 left in the account to buying a house worth Rs 44 crore is quite an inspiring journey. To achieve this big, one is required to work hard with dedication and passion, making the best use of talent.
