The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued heavy rainfall alert for nine Odisha districts in the next 24 hours.

The warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur districts.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha.

“Due to steep pressure gradient and strong monsoon flow, Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea areas of North Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours,” said IMD.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.06.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 22.06.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.06.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 23.06.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal.
