The southwest monsoon is now active over Odisha and several districts experienced rainfall activity in the last 24 hours, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
Nilagiri in Balasore recorded the highest 67 mm rainfall, followed by 62.3 mm in Laikera (Jharsuguda) and 52 mm in Balishankara in Sundergarh district.
“Under the influence the cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over Southwest Bihar and adjoining Southeast Uttar Pradesh with associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid tropospheric levels,” said IMD.

As per latest weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha in the next 24 hours.
A Yellow warning (to be updated) for heavy rainfall has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Bargarh and Balasore.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada and Balasore.
