At least 40 passengers were inside the bus when it plunged into the Chenab River gorge, sources said.
The first incident was reported from Koraput where three persons were killed and another was injured after the car, they were travelling in plunged into a gorge on Sunki Ghat near Jodimadeli under Pottangi police limits on early Wednesday morning.
As per initial reports, one of the buses reportedly caught fire during welding and soon the flame not only engulfed the entire bus but also spread to four other buses-two on each side, one after another.
Out of the total passengers in the bus, 16 were from Kendrapara, two were from Paradip and seven were from Jajpur in Odisha.
