In a tragic road mishap, two persons died and a pregnant woman sustained critical injuries after the bike they were travelling on collided with an oil tanker near Baruhan Square on National Highway 20 in Jajpur district on Thursday. 

The deceased have been identified as Sudarshan Behera and an elderly woman, while the injured is Purnima Behera. From the AADHAR cards found at the accident spot, it was learned that they were residents of the Sana Biruahan Hata Sahi area. 

According to sources, the trio including a pregnant woman was going somewhere from the Jajpur side on a bike. As they were nearing Baruhan, their bike collided with a tanker. Under the impact of the collision, they were thrown off the bike. While an elderly woman died on the spot, locals rushed Sudarshan and Purnima to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). While undergoing treatment, the former breathed his last and the latter is undergoing treatment.

On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the bodies for post-mortem, and launched a probe to ascertain the reason behind the mishap.
