In a heart-wrenching incident, at least four people were killed in a tragic road mishap while returning home after Dussehra celebrations. The bone-chilling incident has been reported from Rajpur village under Boden police limits in Nuapada district.

According to sources, the deceased had gone to watch a cultural programme organised on the occasion of Dussehra. After enjoying the programme, they were returning home late Tuesday night when the mishap occurred.

At least four persons on a motorcycle were on their way to Sinapali while three others were en route to Boden from Sinapali on another bike. Due to low visibility at night, the two motorbikes collided head-on, leading to the death of four people on the spot while three others sustained grievous injuries.

The three injured were admitted to the local hospital and after later shifted to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital after their condition deteriorated. 

The deceased have been identified as Demanta Majhi, Pinku Majhi, Hemanand Majhi and Rohit Kumar Majhi. The injured have been identified as Krushna Chandra Majhi, Sagar Majhi and Mohanlal Majhi. 

“They had gone to watch a cultural programme on Dussehra. Four of them were returning on a motorbike when the accident occurred.  The other bike was coming on the wrong side of the highway,” a relative of one of the deceased alleged.
