Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the winter session of the Parliament scheduled to begin on November 26, the ruling BJD MPs on Saturday assembled at Naveen Nivas in the Capital city to chalk out strategies for the ensuing session.
The BJD parliamentary party meeting convened by the party supremo and chief minister was held at his residence.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, the chief minister said, “The party MPs will raise several issues including drought situation in Odisha during the ensuing winter session of the Parliament.”
Replying to a query on what would be BJD’s stand on intolerance issue, Patnaik stated, “Our party is totally secular and against intolerance any form.”
Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda said, “BJD has been working as a constructive Opposition. We had opposed the Centre over the issues which were against the interest of the people of our State and supported when the issues were favorable to Odisha and the country. Our role will be the same during the ensuing winter session.”
He further said “BJD is against intolerance and the Chief Minister has clearly stated that. There is no different view on the issue.”
Present on the occasion, Dhenkanal MP Tathagata Satapathy said “We have been fighting for the people of Odisha and would continue to do so. We believe that the Centre will definitely fulfil the demands of the people of our State.”
The meeting was attended by 19 Lok Sabha, 6 Rajya Sabha members of the party.
