The BJD has fielded Manas Madkami while the BJP has banked on a new face Narasingha Madkami. The Congress has nominated Mala Madhi, who had given a tough fight to the BJP and BJD candidates twice in the past. 

Several senior leaders of the ruling party are in a state of panic following the announcement of the fourth phase of the candidates.

As per reports, Cuttack mayor Subash Singh and BJD's Rajya Sabha member Debashish Samanataray recently held two separate meetings. A group of party workers who have been opposing Debashish was seen at Naveen Niwas on Sunday.

The deceased and the injured persons belong to a family. The critically injured were said to be a woman, her mother-in-law and the driver of the car. They were travelling in a car from Goa to Howrah, preliminary reports said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted the rise of mercury in Odisha. The temperature has started to peak again and by 2:30 pm on Sunday, seven cities including Bhubaneswar recorded temperatures more than 37 degrees.   

"Gradual rise in maximum temperature (Day Temperature) by 4-6°C during next 4-5 days at many places over the districts of Odisha," said IMD.

Apart from Bhubaneswar, 11 places recorded a maximum temperature above 34 degrees by 11:30 am today.

The BJP VP also interacted with people and distributed 'Pana', a traditional cool drink to the participants.
