As per the allegations of Rani’s parents, her husband Lakshmi Maharana would often beat up her. Late on Monday night, they received a call from Lakshmi who informed them that Rani committed suicide.

In Berhampur, excise intelligence officials seized 84 kgs of ganja from a car bearing the BJD logo, sparking an investigation into its ownership and connections. Five individuals from Kandhamal were detained for their involvement in this illegal operation.

As per reports, Gula Swain and his son Rajendra Swain, residents of Jagannathpur under Patapur police limits, were murdered on December 28, 2013. 

The police sealed the godown after its owner failed to produce any documents required to run such a unit.
