Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a spectacular roadshow in Bhubaneswar on Friday evening. A huge crowd turned up and lined the 2.5-km-long stretch from the state BJP party office to Vani Vihar.

The Prime Minister’s road show started at around 8.30 pm. As his cavalcade moved along slowly, people from all walks of life thronged either side of the road behind the barricades and welcomed him shouting slogans, waving party flags, holding cut-outs of the party’s election symbol lotus and showering flower petals on him.

Flanked by party’s state president Manmohan Samal and Bhubaneswar LS candidate Aparajita Sarangi, Prime Minister Modi reciprocated people’s enthusiasm by waving back.

To greet PM Modi, the entire route was converted to a virtual canvas, displaying the rich culture and tradition of Odisha. Raised platforms were set up along the road to showcase the NDA-led Central Govt's achievements including the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A and introduction of the Vande Bharat Express.

While the road was dotted with life-size cut-outs of the Prime Minister, he was greeted with Odissi dance performance, ululation and beating of traditional musical instruments. There were stages set up with a backdrop displaying the Konark wheel and three chariots of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.
