The tainted additional Tehsildar has been identified as Sarada Maharana. The officials seized the bribe money from her office. 

When the corrupt subordinate is caught, the superior hardly ever gets the blame whereas he too needs to be hauled up for dereliction of duty. If that was done, there would be better performance, less corruption and better utilization of government resources.

The cash was recovered from the house of the sister of Kalpana Pradhan, second wife of Roul, in Salia Sahi area in Bhubaneswar. With, the total cash seized from Roul and his family members goes to a record Rs 3,41,66,280.

The simultaneous house searches are being conducted by special teams of Odisha Vigilance, led by 5 DSPs, 7 Inspectors, 4 ASIs at 5 places in Sundargarh district.

Earlier Rs 21,75,470 cash and 602 grams of gold had been recovered following searches at the official’s Malkangiri residence. With this, the total recovery has gone up to Rs 1. 36 crore which is the highest seizure in the history of Odisha Vigilance.

The Superintendent Engineer of the Malkangiri Rural Works Division, Ashish Kumar Dash was apprehended by Vigilance department personnel on Friday on charges of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The Odisha vigilance sleuths on Thursday carried out simultaneous raids at five premises belonging to Assistant Engineer, Pramoth Behuria who works with the Rural Works division at Soro in Balasore.

The Vigilance sleuths unearthed disproportionate assets worth over Rs 7 crore from several places linked to an Executive Engineer with the Rural Works (Electrical) Division in Berhampur city on Wednesday.

Sethy and his son had locked themselves inside their houses at Berhampur and Bhubaneswar respectively to evade action and obstruct the Vigilance team from conducting searches. The duo also reportedly showed non-cooperation even after being told about the search warrants.
