A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who was in charge of Dhenkanal Sadar police station was allegedly caught red-handed by the Odisha Vigilance officials while he was receiving a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a truck owner on Tuesday. The tainted cop has been identified as Abhinab Dalua.

The vigilance sleuths seized the bribed money from Dalua’s possession. Following this, the teams raided the properties of the DSP at eight different locations including his quarters on the premises of the police station to ascertain disproportionate assets.

While answering queries of journalists, Dalua said he is a victim of a conspiracy.

As per the latest information, Dalua’s interrogation is underway at the police station.

Notably, Dalua had recently been promoted from inspector to the rank of DSP and he was to take charge as Rourkela DSP.

In a similar development, the block education officer of Ghatagaon block in Kaonjhar district was also caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000.

Abhay Kumar Behera, the arrested BEO, had demanded Rs 90,000 to clear arrears of 33 teachers of 2015 batch. Later the deal was finalized at Rs 60,000.

The vigilance sleuths swooped down on Behera while he was allegedly receiving Rs 15,000 as the first instalment.
