The Vigilance sleuths on Monday raided the property of Additional Commissioner, CT and GST, Cuttack-1, Piyush Kanta Pani on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to sources, simultaneous raids were carried out at six places linked to Pani including his house and office.
The searches were conducted by teams comprising five DSPs, 11 inspectors, and other staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge Vigilance, Cuttack.
The probe teams have unearthed eye-popping property worth over crores of rupees owned by the GST official.
During house searches, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of Pani and his family members:
11 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar worth approx Rs.3.70 Crore as per Registered Sale Deeds. Undervaluation during registration is suspected and actual value may be higher. A thorough probe is being initiated to verify this.
1 triple-storeyed residential building located at Chakeisihani, Bhubaneswar.
3 numbers of triple-storeyed buildings and 1 single-storeyed building located at Chorda Chowk, Jajpur Road, Jajpur.
Farmhouse with an outhouse at Andharua, Bhubaneswar.
Garage and single storeyed building at Chakeisihani, Bhubaneswar.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the buildings is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
Bank & Insurance deposits worth Rs.53.63 Lakhs.
Gold jewellery 387 gms.
6 costly four wheelers.
