Over 15 tourists were stranded in the middle of a dam in Balasore district on Monday after a makeshift bamboo raft they were being ferried on fell to pieces. 

Tragedy struck several families on the last day of 2023 as two persons killed and four reported critical in separate road accidents in Odisha. 

All the injured have been rushed to Bangiriposhi hospital. Around 20 police personnel were travelling in the vehicle when the accident occured. 

A woman and her sick one-and-a-half-year-old nephew suffered critical injuries after an ambulance allegedly hit them inside the new district headquarters hospital at Gelpur in Bhadrak on Sunday.

Prahllad Nayak, a resident of Purunapani died in an accident on December 7. Police were clueless about the death. The family members of the deceased brought the body from the hospital and later buried it. The post-mortem of the body was not conducted.

As per reports, Kari and Jagannath were going on a bike from Junagarh to their village. As they neared Chilakpur under Junagarh police limits, a private bus coming from Kalampur towards Cuttack hit the bike from the rear. The two died on the spot. 

Two persons were killed while six others were critically injured after a tractor in which they were travelling in overturned in Ganjam district on Tuesday. 

Following the accident, the owner of the car filed an FIR at the police station, alleging that four to five youths who were inside the MLA’s car had beaten them, apart from giving threats.

To repair the phone, the shop owner removed the battery and placed it on the table. Then there were five customers at the shop.  Before anyone could understand anything, the battery exploded and caught fire.

The luxury car with registration number OD-23K 0006 reportedly belongs to a company in which Bishal Kumar Das, the son of former Odisha minister Late Naba Das, is a director. There is also pictorial evidence of Bishal Das using this vehicle in the past.   

The three injured were admitted to the local hospital and after later shifted to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital after their condition deteriorated. 

On the day of Dussehra, when festivities were all around, 15 people from Bisipalli area of Bargarh district did not have an iota of idea that their trip to have a darshan of the Goddess at Huma shrine would be fraught with danger.

Seven members of a family from Kharagpur in West Bengal had purchased a new Innova car with their bonus money. They had come to Dwarashunighat for the puja of their new car.

The woman and her two kids – one aged 4 and the other 2 – had come to Bolangir for some work. They were waiting at Bolangir station to board a local train.
