Two women of family killed, 4 critical after car gets crushed between trucks in Mayurbhanj 

In a tragic incident, two women died and four others of a family were critically injured after a truck rammed into their car on NH-49 near Bangiriposi Ghati in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday afternoon. 

According to reports, seven members of a family from Kharagpur in West Bengal had purchased a new Innova car with their bonus money. They had come to Dwarashunighat for the puja of their new car.

After the puja, the family was returning home in the car which was moving between two trucks on NH-49. The iron-laden truck, which was behind, rammed into the car that under the impact collided with the other truck in front. Two of the occupants ( women) who were sitting in the rear seat, died on the spot while four others were critically injured. The car has been completely mangled.

On being informed, local people and police along with the fire brigade rushed to the spot and rescued the injured after cutting the mangled car with cutters. 

The injured were rushed to the Bangiriposi community health centre. Their condition was stated to be critical at the time of filing of this report. 

Police have detained the driver of the truck which caused the accident while the truck in front of the ill-fated car fled the spot.

Dwarashunighati, close to NH-49, has been witnessing accidents over the years. As per reports, in the last two years, about 250 accidents have taken place at the place while over 50 people have died in the mishaps.
