Two persons killed, four others critical in separate road accidents in Odisha 

Tragedy struck several families on the last day of 2023 as two persons were killed on Sunday after the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a speeding truck from behind in Panichatar square of Bargarh district. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained. 

As per reports, the duo was travelling on their bike when their vehicle was hit by the truck, resulting in their deaths on the spot. 
Before the locals could nab the truck driver, he fled from the spot. 

On being informed, the police reached the spot and initiated a probe in connection with the accident. Efforts are also underway to nab the absconding truck driver. 

In another incident, as many as four persons sustained critical injuries after the car they were travelling in hit a roadside tree on Khordha-Bolangir National Highway (NH) on Salabhanga forest road in Dasapalla of Nayagarh district on Sunday. 

The identities of the injured persons are yet to be ascertained. 

The occupants of the ill-fated car were travelling to Puri from Chhattisgarh when the driver lost control of the steering wheel. As a result, the car lost balance and collided with a bike before hitting the roadside tree. The impact of the collision was so high that the car immediately caught fire. 

The four persons in the car sustained multiple injuries in the accident. Following the mishap, the onlookers rushed the injured to the Dasapalla Hospital for treatment.
