A day after senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and Narla MLA, Bhupinder Singh’s car reportedly met with an accident in Bhubaneswar, the legislator on Tuesday said that it was another car that hit his vehicle from the rear.
However, the owner of the other car involved in the accident has filed an FIR at Kharavela Nagar Police Station in this regard.

As per reports, following the accident, the owner of the car filed an FIR at the police station, alleging that four to five youths who were inside the MLA’s car had beaten them, apart from giving threats.

Sambit Swarup Patra, the counsel of the complainant said, "As the Innova car applied the sudden brake, the car of my client hit it from behind. Soon after the accident, four to five persons got out of the car and threatened the driver of my client’s car, and demanded compensation for the damage. We got to know that the car belongs to an MLA. Later, a PCR van rescued our car.”

Speaking to the media here about the accident on Tuesday, MLA Bhupinder Singh said, “My driver had taken the car to carry his grandson back home from tuition. On the way, a vehicle hit my car from behind near Kharavela Nagar Police Station. Our driver immediately informed home about the accident. My son told the driver to take snapshots of the damaged part of the car and that of the other car and lodge a complaint.”

The BJD leader further stated, “The damage is supposed to be compensated by the insurance company. The company advised us to lodge a complaint for the Insurance claim. At that time, police personnel came and took the two vehicles to the police station. One of our staff lodged an FIR at the police station. And there itself, the driver of the other car admitted his fault. He also assured that the owner would pay the money required for the damage repair. However, my son said that there was no need for the other party to pay us money. In that case, the insurance company will pay for our damage.”

The MLA also added that the driver of the other vehicle had admitted his fault for causing the accident.
However, no comments have been received from the police.
