The cable car of resort Timber Trail, located on the Chandigarh-Shimla national highway, in Solan district is stranded mid-air for over an hour.
In Sambalpur district, three people were killed and four others suffered injuries after the auto rickshaw they were travelling in collided with an oil tanker near Tabalakata square on National Highway 49 under Kuchinda block.
As per reports, she was returning home after attending tuition class when the mishap occurred. She died on the spot.
According to injured Sonu Nayak, he had seen the mini truck which rammed into the bike near his house in the morning. He was chased by the vehicle later. His brother was the target of murder. However, they narrowly escaped the accident. Sonu attributed the attack to past enmity over a land dispute.
The tragic incident took place at Sagar Salt factory situated inside the Halvad industrial area, said state Labour and Employment Minister and local MLA Brijesh Merja.
As per reports, the van was enroute Barshikona village from Sindhipadar under Thuamul Rampur block when the driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle overturned on the ghat.
The deceased were identified as Trilochan Mahanta of Ambuapada village, Ramakant Nayak of Sorasakela village and Sunil Dash of Rudhiapada village.
The man identified as Bansidhar Behera from Balasore has been missing since then. Life guards have been pressed into action and the search operation is currently on.
Sources said ‘Dola Melana’ or ‘Radha-Krishna Melana’ utsav is celebrated in a grand way in the area every year during Dola Purnima. Attractive fireworks are demonstrated during the procession of the Melana. This time things did not go as planned, resulting in the mishap, sources added.
The rogue driver has been identified as Narendranath Munda, who is employed with the Steel and Mines Department of Odisha government.
