Two workers electrocuted in Balasore

Balasore: Two contractual workers were killed after coming in contact with a live wire while putting up a hoarding at ITI ground here for an exhibition on Thursday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Seikh Arsad Alli and Seikh Rajan, residents of Sunahata area.

According to sources, Ali and Rajan worked for a company that was assigned to put up the hoardings for the Expo Exhibition. Both of them came in contact with a live 11 KV wire while placing the hoarding at the ITI ground here.

The injured duo was rushed to Balasore district headquarters hospital where doctors declared them dead on arrival, the sources added.

Tension erupted in the area as soon as the news of the death of two contractual workers spread in the locality.

Angry over the incident, all contractual workers of the company boycotted their work demanding adequate compensation for the family members of the deceased.
