Acharya Harihara Centre to be developed as Centre for Excellence
Bhubaneswar: The State government has decided to develop Acharya Harihara Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack into a ‘Centre for Excellence’, said Health and Family Welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Friday here.
Speaking to mediapersons after attending the annual conference of Indian Association of Surgical Oncology here, Nayak said the State government has submitted a proposal to the Centre seeking Rs 100 crore for infrastructural development of the cancer centre.
Further, he stated medicines for treatment of cancer will be provided free of cost to patients under Niramaya scheme.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik attended the conference as the chief guest.
