Padmakesharipur village near Bhubaneswar has been in turmoil for five days due to clashes sparked by high-interest money lending. The male villagers have fled, leaving women and children in panic.

Dharmasala and Kuakhia police registered cases against over 100 people in two cases. Dharmasala Police arrested six persons while Kuakhia police arrested 14 persons. All the accused were produced in court.

To prevent post-poll violence in Ganjam, local police have imposed early closing hours on liquor shops, hotels, tea stalls, and eateries until June 4. The measures were announced by SP Jagmohan Meena alongside ongoing efforts to arrest criminals and maintain law and order through intensified patrols.

Six people were injured in post-election violence in Bedpur, Banki, involving BJD and Congress supporters. Additionally, tension escalated in Pipili after an attack on an MLA's vehicle. Road blockades and police actions followed the incidents.

A supporter of independent candidate Soumya Ranjan Patnaik was allegedly attacked by BJD workers at Ghasipura Assembly constituency in Keonjhar.

As per latest development, the SIT will conduct a detailed investigation and arrest the remaining accused persons early. Besides, focus will be given on collection of proper evidence (scientific/forensic/digital) and submission of chargesheet within 30 days for early trial of the case.

As per the allegations, the saffron party workers were thrashed and kidnapped by some ruling party workers near the solar plant when they were campaigning at Tendapali village with BJP’s Titlagarh MLA candidate Naveen Jain.

Some BJD workers allegedly launched a deadly attack on the supporters of the BJP while they were putting up party banners as part of electioneering.

In Bhubaneswar, a girl and her family were attacked by drug addicts after she opposed their activities near her home. The attackers vandalized property and threatened the family, leading to a police complaint. The incident was captured on CCTV.

The money lender is presently asking the impoverished family in Padmakesharipur village to pay Rs 15 lakh more. 

The deceased were identified as Johny and his son Anas, Aaris and Faheem.

A 17-year-old boy stabbed a student of a degree college to death Kairansi village under Khallikote Police limits on Tuesday. What was very disconcerting about the incident was that the juvenile delinquent committed the crime after returning from a Bal Sudhar Gruha (juvenile home/borstal for young offenders). People were shocked by such an incident. 

The situation further escalated after hundreds of supporters of the injured gheraoed Bangomunda police station

A spokesperson for the Israeli military said on Tuesday in a statement that the strike by an unmanned aerial vehicle was launched "in response" to "a violent riot at the security fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip". 

The incident comes close on the heels of the violence that broke out at Pallel in Tengnoupal district in which three persons were killed and over 50 injured on September 8.
