Padmakesharipur village near Bhubaneswar has been in turmoil for five days due to clashes sparked by high-interest money lending. The male villagers have fled, leaving women and children in panic.
Dharmasala and Kuakhia police registered cases against over 100 people in two cases. Dharmasala Police arrested six persons while Kuakhia police arrested 14 persons. All the accused were produced in court.
To prevent post-poll violence in Ganjam, local police have imposed early closing hours on liquor shops, hotels, tea stalls, and eateries until June 4.
