Ahead of the second phase of polling in the State, as many as two BJP workers were allegedly thrashed and kidnapped by some supporters of BJD at Dunguripali area under Saintala police station in Bolangir district late last night.

As per the allegations, the saffron party workers were thrashed and kidnapped by some ruling party workers near the solar plant when they were campaigning at Tendapali village with BJP’s Titlagarh MLA candidate Naveen Jain. Later, the injured BJP workers were rescued and admitted to the nearby hospital.

Subsequently, the victims lodged a complaint against 15 BJD workers at Saintala police station for allegedly launching a deadly attack on them.

Meanwhile, the BJD supporters have also filed a counter complaint in the police station alleging casteist remarks by the BJP workers.

“When we were campaigning at Tendapali village, some BJD supporters launched a deadly attack on our workers with sticks and other arms. In the process, two of our workers sustained grievous injuries,” said BJP leader Jain.

Notably, a BJP worker was killed and three others sustained critical injuries in an alleged clash between BJD and BJP workers in Ganjam on Wednesday.
