At least six persons have been injured in post-poll violence reported at Bedpur village under Banki police limits in Cuttack district.  Sources said all six persons were injured following a clash between BJD and Congress supporters.

The exact reason as to what triggered the clash is yet to be ascertained. Sources said the locals blocked the Cuttack-Banki main road for long time on Sunday night following the violent clash. Movement of vehicular traffic was disrupted following the road blockade.

No comments could be obtained from BJD and Congress leaders over the incident. Meanwhile, all the injured have been admitted to Banki hospital for treatment.

In another incident, palpable tension prevailed at Terundia under Nimapara of Puri district after stones were allegedly pelted at the vehicle of Pipili MLA.

"We escaped from the route after some people attacked our vehicle with stones. Some people later chased us when we took the highway and stopped at a particular place to see the damage," said BJD MLA candidate Rudra Pratap Maharathy.

Nimapara police subsequently detained the BJP president of Terundia panchayat. On getting information, BJP MLA candidate Pravati Parida reached the police station.

"Pipili MLA and others visited Nimapara and some tried to unleash terror in my panchayat. I warn the MLA not to create Pipili like situation in Nimapara as the people are peace loving. We urge police and administration to ensure free and fair elections and take action against those indulging in provocation," said BJP MLA candidate Pravati Parida.
