Pradhan launches 11 mobile medical units in State

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to provide healthcare at doorstep in rural pockets especially inaccessible areas of State, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today flagged off 11 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) which will travel in rural areas across the State providing free primary healthcare services.

Each MMU will have a qualified doctor,nurse , laboratory technician, pharmacist, essential medicines and diagnostic kit.

One unit can cover four to five villages a day on a regular basis and can cater to the needs of 90 to 100 people on an average. The unit can also function as a referral clinic and ambulance in emergencies.

GAIL has deployed four MMUs as part of its CSR initiative -Project Arogya. HPCL has put six units in service as part of its ‘Project Dhanwantari’ under CSR. One unit has been mobilised by Oil and Natural Gas Ltd. (ONGC).
