Bhubaneswar: Odisha Television (OTV), the No.1 news channel of the State, felicitated corporate houses for their contribution to corporate social responsibility (CSR) sector.
At an event at Mayfair Hotel on October 9 here, the OTV CSR Awards 2015 were given in seven categories.
Utkal Alumina Ltd at Rayagada was honoured with the award for excellence in the CSR in Women Empowerment category. The trophy was received by SK Mishra, Advisor, Hindalco; M Ramesh Kumar, Senior Vice President (HR, Admin, & CSR) and Siba Mahapatra, AGM (CSR) of the company.
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) bagged the award in ‘Water and Sanitation’, ESSEL Mining and Industries Ltd in ‘Sustainable Livelihood’, TATA Steel at Kalinga Nagar in ‘Green Environment’, Vedanta at Lanjigarh in ‘Health and Hygiene’ and NALCO in ‘Primary Education’ category.
Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) in Angul bagged the award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practices in the State. Manish Kharbanda, Executive Director & Head (Mining & Minerals) received the award on behalf of JSPL.
Addressing the event, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram said CSR activity is an integral element for growth of an industry.
A five-member jury comprising former Chief Secretary Sudhanshu Bhusan Mishra, former Information Commissioner Jagadananda, ex-CMD NALCO CR Pradhan, former CSR Head of RSP SN Patra and Professor of XIMB Snigdha Pattnaik selected the awardees for the seven categories from 27 nominations.
