Vigilance officials informed that disproportionate assets to the tune of 236 percent of his known sources of income have been detected. Mohanty was arrested late on Wednesday night and has been remanded to jail custody till February 13, 2024.
The Vigilance registered 85 disproportionate assets cases last year while assets and properties worth Rs 124 crore of those involved in corruption have been seized.
The Vigilance department has registered a case under section 13(2), 13(1)(b)/12 of the P.C. Amendment Act, 2018 against Mohanty and his spouse in this connection.
As the matter was under trial, Sahu took retirement in 2022. The Vigilance Court recently awarded a three-year jail term and imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on Sahu.
The police official failed to clarify about the cash. The IIC was detained. An investigation into the matter has been started.
The accused doctor identified as Sanjib Kumar Kar works as an ophthalmologist at Subarnapur district headquarters hospital.
An encroachment case was registered at the tehsil office. A person linked to the case was supposed to appear before the tehsil only after a notification, which was to be issued by the revenue inspector.
As per initial reports, the Vigilance officials intercepted Sunil Kumar Behera, Commandant 1st Battalion, Dhenkanal near Madhusudan Setu (CDA side) in Cuttack.
Simultaneous house searches were conducted by Odisha Vigilance led by three DSPs, 10 Inspectors and other staff at several places in Khordha district.

According to Vigilance sources, Parida was accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from a complainant to help him and his mother in a land dispute case, through a middleman identified as Amareswar Nayak.
As per initial reports, one Sarat Behera had approached the Vigilance after the IIC had allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh as a bribe to release his vehicles which were detained by concerned officials of the police station. A team of Boudh and Berhampur Vigilance raided and caught the IIC while accepting the bribe.
The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance had ordered jail custody of Rout till July 7, 2023. Rout was earlier produced before the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Sundargarh for possessing disproportionate assets (DA) worth Rs 5,21,09,659 which is 506 per cent of his known sources of income.
The Opposition alleged that Rout had hand in glove with the higher rank officials in the adminis6tration for which he was able to indulge in such corrupt practices and amass such huge wealth.
