In the last phase of the polling in the state on June 1, 99,61,000 voters will exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 66 and 394 candidates contesting for Lok Sabha and Assembly seats, respectively, informed the Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha (CEO), Nikunja Bihari Dhal on Thursday. 

A total of 10,882 booths have been set up out of which 1400 booths will be managed by women only. While over 70,000 polling staff will be engaged for poll management, 125 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be deployed to ensure peaceful polling, informed the CEO. 

Like the past phases, this time too, free transportation facilities will be made available to the PWD voters, he added. 

He also informed that no one except the presiding officers can take mobile phones to the booths.

The six Lok Sabha constituencies going to polls on June 1 witnessed 74 per cent polling in 2019. 

Regarding the seizures made by various enforcement agencies since March 2024, Dhal said, “We have so far seized 275 crores. It includes cash seizure amounting to Rs 20.08 crore, liquor worth Rs 40.75 crore, drugs and narcotics worth Rs 77.99 crore, precious metals worth Rs 14.74 crore and freebies and other items worth Rs 121.57 crore.”
