The Vigilance Department on Wednesday arrested senior OAS officer and IDCO chief general manager (P&A), Saroj Kanta Mohanty for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The arrest came after Vigilance detected 10 plots, fixed deposits, and savings in accounts to the tune of over Rs 40 lakh apart from other assets.

Vigilance SP, Anupama James said, “Following yesterday’s search, we found Saroj Kanta Mohanty to be in possession of 10 plots, 2 flats, 871 grams gold, savings, and fixed deposits worth Rs 40 lakh. Apart from this, total disproportionate assets are around Rs 2.55 crore which is 153 percent more than his actual and known sources of income. Further valuation and investigation is underway.”

The Vigilance department has registered a case under section 13(2), 13(1)(b)/12 of the P.C. Amendment Act, 2018 against Mohanty and his spouse in this connection.

Details of assets found during raid:

One triple-storeyed building at Mahanadi Vihar, Nayabazar, Cuttack (6200 Sqft).

One double-storeyed building at Brahmabarada, Dharmasala, Jajpur.

One 3BHK Flat at Sailashree Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.

Another 3 BHK Flat Baranga, Cuttack.

A total of 10 plots of which 7 plots are in prime area of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Gold jewellery weighing 703.38 gms and silver 869 gms.

Bank, Insurance & Postal deposits over Rs.70.55 Lakhs 

 1 four wheeler (Maruti Baleno) & 2 two wheelers and household articles worth over Rs.20.88 Lakhs
