A special security meeting in this regard was held by the Commissionerate of Police on Tuesday. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah along with other dignitaries will be present during the oath-taking ceremony, massive security cover will be in place for the grand event.

The new Odisha Chief Minister will be sworn in at a grand ceremony attended by PM Modi on June 12 at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar.

Two newly-inducted Union cabinet ministers have been appointed as observers to pick the Chief Minister for Odisha.

Modi will hold a huge roadshow from Jayadev Vihar to Janata Maidan on Wednesday evening before attending the oath-taking ceremony of the new Odisha Chief Minister.

As per the allegation by the family members, the newborn baby was stolen by a woman from the maternity ward of the hospital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of his swearing-in, paid tributes to Gandhi and Vajpayee. He emphasized the cultural and political significance of Odisha, celebrating BJP's major electoral wins there with traditional attire and chants.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new Odisha Chief Minister, originally scheduled for June 10, has been postponed to June 12, 2024. This change accommodates PM Narendra Modi's schedule, who will also attend the event at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.

Besides the name of state BJP President Manmohan Samal, the names of newly elected Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda, Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan, Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra, Patnagarh MLA Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Brajarajnagar MLA Suresh Pujari are also doing the rounds for the most coveted post of Odisha's new Chief Minister.

The monsoon has covered some parts of Malkangiri district today and gradually it will cover other parts of the State in a phased manner.

Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena has instructed the Puri collector to initiate an enquiry into this matter and take appropriate action against the persons involved. 

The students, who have successfully cleared their class 10 board examinations, are eligible to apply for the plus 2 streams in Arts, Science and Commerce streams, official sources said.

BJP leader Durga Prasan Nayak defeated BJD veteran and former minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak by a margin of 33, 526 votes. The BJP leader polled 1,09,653 votes in the election. 

Amid speculations over who will be the BJP’s chief ministerial choice for Odisha, the saffron party has started the exercise in this direction as the state BJP leaders have departed for New Delhi to hold discussions. 

The BJP stalwart held the massive Vijay Sobhayatra (victory procession) to express his gratitude to the people in Kendrapara.  

Manorama Mohanty, director of IMD Bhubaneswar said, “The Southwest Monsoon usually arrives in Odisha towards the second week of June – 12th or 13th. We expect the Monsoon to touch south Odisha in the next three to four days. Till now, conditions are favourable."
