Heavy to very heavy rain likley to lash Odisha as low pressure intensifies into depression.

A Low Pressure Area has formed over northeast and adjoining areas of eastcentral Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh-Myanmar coasts. Regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today informed that the system is likely to move west-northwestwards and become more marked during the next 12 hours.

Since Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Keonjhar are likely to witness rains under the impact of depression, we are reducing water levels in the reservoirs in these districts, said SRC

The Met department further said that the well-marked low pressure will concentrate into Depression during the subsequent 24 hours.

In a press release, the IMD said a fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over east-central India from the night of 18th August. The weather bureau has also predicted that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over south Myanmar and neighbourhood, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal around 19th August.
