The cinema hall, which was located behind the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) office, was demolished as part of the ambitious Parikrama Project or the Srimandir Heritage Corridor Project.

Protesting against the alleged callous attitude of the state government, the affected people are now staging a demonstration in front of the block office for the past two days.

The fire broke out at Odisha Handloom showroom in Niladri complex, which is just 50 metres away from Laxmi market complex that saw a massive fire just three days ago.

The committee headed by Puri sub-collector will also comprise the local tehsildar, Town Police IIC and Fire Officer.
