Group clash over gambling near Puri Badadanda market, three injured

Three persons were injured when two groups attacked each other with sharp weapons at Market Square on (Badadanda) Grand Road in Puri early on Saturday morning.

The injured have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

As per reports, the attack is said to be a fallout of a heated argument between the two groups the previous night over gambling at Khadipada Melana ground.

In a bid to take revenge, the members of the groups attacked each other with sharp weapons on Saturday morning leaving three of them injured.

“The groups who have attacked each other had past enmity. They have been identified. We are at a preliminary stage of the investigation. That is why we cannot share all the details of the case with the media. However, three persons have been injured,” said Additional SP of Puri, Mihir Panda.

“The accused have been identified and the motive is also established. We have formed three teams. Our primary target is to arrest the accused,” Panda added.

Puri Town police has launched a probe into the incident and efforts are underway to nab the accused.
