The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Puri is all set to distribute the wheels and other parts of the chariots used in the last year's annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.

The beneficiaries of the Chariot parts were shortlisted in a meeting today which was attended by the SJTA administrator (ritual), officials of the Chariot Construction Committee and five senior members of the Srimandir Managing Committee.

As per reports, several organisations including temples from outside of the State have applied to get the parts of the chariots.

said the SJTA has decided to distribute 35 wheels, guja, ashuari, sinhasana and prabhas of the Nandighosha, Taladhwaja and Darpadalana Chariots of the holy Trinity.

“It is a routine process. We distribute the wheels and other parts of the Chariots either in exchange for money or through various government departments. The meeting was held to scrutinise the applications received,” said Jitendra Kumar Sahu, SJTA Administrator (Ritual).

first phase of the meeting has already been concluded and the beneficiaries have been identified as well. This is the second phase of the meeting and all the beneficiaries from the applications have been shortlisted today,” he added.

The Chariot parts will be handed over after the final nod of the Managing Committee.
