Over 6,000 students appear for JEE (Advanced) 2018 in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The much waited JEE (Advanced) 2018 began amidst tight security arrangements at four places in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Rourkela on Sunday.
As many as 6, 304 students from Odisha are appearing for the national level engineering entrance exam conducted for admissions into 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Over two lakh students are taking the JEE (Advanced) 2018 tests across the country today.
Elaborate measures were undertaken by the authorities for the smooth conduct of the examination that began at 9 am today. The students were allowed inside the centres from 7:30 am onwards.
This year, the examination which is computer-based spanning is being conducted in two shifts. The Paper-I will be held from 9 AM to 12 noon and Paper-II will start from 2 PM and continue till 5 PM.
The entrance results will be declared on June 10.
Candidates who will qualify the JEE Advanced can get admissions into bachelors, integrated masters and dual degree programmes (entry at the 10+2 level) in the IITs and NITs across India.
Banned items: The list of Items prohibited inside the examination hall includes electronic devices (e.g. mobile phones, smart phones, calculators, iPAD, tabs, digital watches etc.), books, study material of any type, geometry box, written or white (blank) paper/piece of paper, wallets, etc.
Candidates should not to wear items containing metals such as rings, bracelet, earrings, pendants or cloths with big buttons.
