Kajol is one of the most successful Bollywood actresses. Throughout her career spanning over 32 years, she has worked in over 40 movies. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards including six Filmfare awards. Even she is honoured with Padma Shri. The 49-year-old actress still continues to pull out her character effortlessly and mesmerise her fans with her stellar performance. But, did you know that Kajol laughed uncontrollably when her co-star 'died,' leaving everyone on the set stunned?

Kajol made her debut with Bekhudi in 1992. While she has been a part of several iconic movies, Baazigar remains one of the most loved flicks, also starring Shah Rukh Khan and Shilpa Shetty. While SRK played the role of an anti-hero, Shilpa was a debutant in the movie and it was Kajol's second movie. Baazigar emerged as a blockbuster and the rest is history.

Helmed by the Abbas-Mustan director duo, Baazigar is considered a landmark film in everyone's career. For Kajol, it was a breakthrough moment of her career and she entered into the mainstream Hindi cinema. Shilpa, despite her limited screen time, made a notable impression in the hearts of moviegoers. Kajol and Shilpa played the roles of two sisters, Priya and Seema, respectively. In the movie, Seema is killed by her boyfriend Ajay (SRK) and later on, posing as Vicky, Ajay successfully woos Priya. While the movie still remains afresh in the minds of moviegoers, the director-duo recently shared an interesting yet funny anecdote from the set.

During a recent interaction with Radio Nasha Official, Abbas-Mustan revealed that Kajol and Shilpa were merely 17 when they signed the film.

Mustan said, "In one of the scenes, when Shilpa’s character is pushed and falls off the terrace and dies, Kajol is supposed to cry, and SRK consoles her and takes her back into the car. However, when she saw Shilpa lying on the ground, she couldn’t control her laughter. She was just 17, and I think she didn’t understand the scene.”

Immediately, Abbas intervened and said, “I don’t think it was because of her age. When she saw Shilpa lying with her eyes open, she burst into laughter. She said, ‘She is supposed to be dead but her eyes are open, how can I bring out the emotions.”

The duo then arranged for a four-camera set-up and called Kajol aside to explain the importance of the scene.

“We called her and told her, ‘Imagine the dead girl lying on the ground is your younger sister, Tanishaa. What would you do if you saw your real sister in a pool of blood?’ She immediately started crying," they said.

Further, they added, "She continued to sob even after sitting in the car. We did the shot in just one take, and whatever she did in the scene was natural.”

The director-duo praised both the actors for delivering powerful performances. As they said, they were tensed as they were not sure if they would be able to pull off their characters. However, when they (Kajol and Shilpa) understood the scene, they went with the flow.
