To ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the second phase of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha, a total of 33,000 police and security personnel including 102 companies of CAPF have been deployed in various parts of the state. 

Addressing a presser in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, DGP Arun Sarangi informed that five Lok Sabha and 35 Assembly seats are going to polls in the second phase on Monday and 33,000 police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order during the polling.

“Among the security forces are 102 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and 66 platoons of Odisha Special Armed Police Forces (OSAP). An additional SP will be in-charge of law and order for each Assembly constituency,” he added.

“Besides, 47 additional SPs, 88 DSPs, 236 inspectors, 2,000 SIs and ASIs, 11,800 havildars and constables and 5,800 home guards will be deployed to maintain law and order,” he said.

The DGP also informed, ”Voting will be conducted in 9,162 polling booths on Monday while 556 booths located in the Naxal-hit areas. Keeping this in view, security has been beefed up at these booths. Besides, 48 check posts have been set up on the borders of 14 districts.”

Stating that zero tolerance is being adopted against the troublemakers during the elections, the DGP said that SPs of the concerned districts have been directed to take prompt action against the miscreants.
