Ahead of the second phase of polling in Odisha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday slammed the State government for the pre-poll violence and the murder that occurred in Khallikote area in Ganjam district.

BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya alleged that senior police personnel including higher-ranked officials like DG, IG and SP have become the agents of the State government and are working in their favour.

Acharya indirectly stated that BJP will form government in Odisha and the situation of the Andhra Pradesh Police DG will be replicated in the state.

The senior saffron leader further alleged that those who worked as the agents of the state government have been entrusted with the job of investigating the pre-poll violence in Khallikote and Odisha government is trying to create the West Bengal-like situation in Odisha.

"Money is being distributed at the queen's palace for tomorrow's polling. Conspiracy for murder is being hatched there. SP and DIG of Ganjam district have been encouraging criminals by becoming the agents of the ruling party. We request the police personnel not to become the agents of BJD and help the ruling party win elections," said Acharya in a presser.

"We have brought allegations against higher-ranked police officials like DG, IG, SP and others in the past. They should not create situations so that things will happen as it happened in the case of Andhra Pradesh Police DG," the senior saffron leader added.

Meanwhile, DGP Arun Sarangi said that as many as 11 persons have been arrested in connection with the pre-poll violence in Khallikote so far.

"A Special Investigation Team (SIT)  is investigating the incident from all possible angles. We will finish the investigation as soon as possible," said Sarangi.
