Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mega roadshow in Bhubaneswar, the Special Protection Group (SPG) along with other security agencies and the officials of the Commissionerate Police took stock of the security arrangements on Tuesday. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a roadshow on the busy stretch in Bhubaneswar on May 10.

As per sources, PM Modi is also likely to address public meetings in Kandhamal, Bargarh and Bolangir.

In a letter, the Intelligence Director pointed out towards the use of drones by media to take visuals during PM Modi’s recent programme in Odisha.

From the security point of view, Collectors and DMs have been requested to declare the area around the venue as ‘No Drone Zone’/ ‘No Flying Zone’.

Apart from this, instructions have been given to install proper signage regarding no drone zone, and no flying zone; and as a security measure, the flying of drones by media personnel, the event management team should be strictly prohibited.

Security review in Bhubaneswar 

As per reports, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh, senior officials of the Transport Department, the Health Department and the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) conducted a ground assessment and reviewed the security of connecting roads to the main street. 

As per the Blue Book, all necessary security measures are being put in place for the roadshow and his carcade. The officials will also decide the time from when the connecting roads to the main street will be sealed for security reasons.  

Besides, the SPG assessed where barricades all along the stretch of the street will be erected.

Speaking to the media, DCP Prateek Singh said, “As we know, a public meeting may be held in Bhubaneswar. The SPG, other security agencies and the administration are looking after the security arrangements for the roadshow on May 10.”

“On-the-ground survey is being conducted on how the event will be conducted smoothly. The starting point and the ending point of the roadshow will be finalised only after the on-the-ground inspection. All security measures are being taken as per the Blue Book,” he added.
