After witnessing a gruelling phase of heat and humidity for over 17-18 days, people in different parts of Odisha woke up to cooler weather conditions due to Nor’wester activities that continued for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the maximum temperature in Odisha is likely to register a sharp drop in the coming days.

As per the latest forecast, the mercury is likely to drop by 5 to 6 Degrees C during the next 3 days and no large change is expected thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.

The IMD has also issued an orange warning for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall activities in different parts of Odisha.

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Nabarangpur. Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur over the districts of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Khordha and also hailstorm over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.05.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 09.05.2024)

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj.
