Odia lad Rituraj Mohanty named ‘India’s Raw Star’

Bhubaneswar: Odia lad Rituraj Mohanty has been adjudged the winner of ‘India’s Raw Star’ beating other finalists Darshan Raval and Mohit Gaur at the grand finale of the popular reality TV show Sunday. He walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a Maruti Swift car and a trophy.

Born in Nimapada of Puri district in Odisha, Rituraj took his first lessons in Hindustani vocal at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Bhubaneswar.

“It is very difficult for me to sink in the feeling that I have won this show. Firstly, I would like to thank Yo Yo Honey Singh and STAR Plus for getting me on the show and for giving me such a huge platform to perform on,” Rituraj said in a statement.

“Himesh Reshammiya has been such a great mentor and a huge support. I would like to extend my love-filled thanks to all my fans as they are behind my win! I dedicate this win to all my fans,” he added.

The last episode of Star Plus’ musical reality show witnessed popular singers Kailash Kher, Mohit Chauhan and Shaan enthralling the viewers along with the three finalists Sunday. The finalists regaled the final face-off song composed by Sachin and Jigar on the occasion, which also saw Arjun Kapoor promoting his upcoming movie ‘Tevar’.
