The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday approached the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha seeking action against the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

The BJP alleged that the BJD is using Self Help Groups (SHGs) in its election activities. Along with a memorandum, it also submitted some photographs to substantiate its claim.

BJP leader Pinki Pradhan alleged that Nirupama Nayak, chairperson of the MBK Mission Shakti in Balasore is campaigning for the ruling party.

Pradhan said the CEO has assured to take action on the allegations.

“An audio of Nirupama Nayak, chairperson of MBK Mission Shakti in Balasore is going viral where she can be heard telling her members to support the BJD. The CEO has assured us that he would take action as per prescribed rules,” said Pradhan.

No reactions were received from Nayak and the BJD.

Notably, BJP had moved the CEO against BJD accusing it of involving children in the campaigning of its Kendrapara Lok Sabha candidate Anshuman Mohanty.
