Sambalpur Gutkha Factory Fire: 6-Member Probe Committee Formed

The Sambalpur Collector on Tuesday formed a six-member committee to probe the fire mishap at a gutkha manufacturing factory at Saradhapalli in the district on Monday that left 25 people injured.

As per reports, the committee includes, the Sub-Collector of Sambalpur, Deputy Director of Factories and Boilers, Excise Superintendent, Divisional Labour Commissioner and the Fire Officer as members.

The committee has been directed to submit a detailed report on the circumstances that led to the fire mishap injuring so many, within a week.

It is pertinent to mention here that though the exact cause of fire is unclear, it is suspected that the mishap occurred following a blast in a machine. Most of the employees, who were working inside the factory, are from outside Odisha.
