In a bid to prevent congregation of devotees in and around the Baladevjew temple, the Kendrapara district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC for the smooth conduct of SnanaYatra (divine bathing rituals of the holy trinity) today.
Deba Snana Yatra, the grand bathing festival of Lord Jagannath is all set to be held tomorrow at Puri Srimandir. The event marks the prelude before the commencement of the annual Rath Yatra festivities in the holy town.
The court has also rejected the five petitions filled before it seeking permission to hold the Rath Yatra at two places including Baladevjew in Kendrapara, popularly known as Tulasi Khetra and Bhatli.

"It is important to save people's lives. So, it is not advisable to hold and conduct this year's pilgrimage in the larger public interest. Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board is aware of and respect the sentiments of millions of devotees, and to keep the sentiments alive, the Board shall continue the live telecast of morning and evening aarti from the Holy Cave shrine."
