The Snana Purnima rituals of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at Puri Srimandir is underway with full spiritual fervour. Like the previous year, this year too the rituals are being performed in closed doors sans devotees in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. What Are Components Used In Hati Besha Of Lord Jagannath

Both Lord Jagannath and Balabhadra wear various parts of the special attire from Sri Paya to Thoda Hasta, Adhara, Torana, Kiaphali, Handia Phula, Gajakhumba, Gajakhumba Chaki, Bada Tarasa, Dali. Similarly, Devi Subhadra is decorated with Tarasa, two Dali, Adakani, Nakuasi and Lord Sudarsan gets a Chula and adorned on top with a giant blue chakra.

Deba Snana Purnima: Gods Celebrate Royal Bath

Divine bathing of the holy quartet of Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarsan begins at Puri Srimandir. Servitors bathe the deities with a total of 108 pitchers of aromatic herbal water from Suna Kua (well) near Sitala Mandir to Snana Bedi.

Lord Jagannath will be bathed with 35 pots of scented water, Lord Balabhadra 33 pots, Devi Subhadra 22 & Shri Sudarsan with 18 pots of water.

Deba Snana Purnima: Holy Trinity To Be Decked Up With Hati Besha Today

The Holy Trinity will be adorned with the Hati Besha (elephant attire) after the bathing rituals today. The items required for the attire have been prepared by the artisans at Raghaba Das Mutt and Gopal Tirtha Mutt in Puri. Puspalak and Dutta Mohapatra servitors usually carry out the service of adorning the deities with the Hati Besha.
